CIVIL ENGINEERING

Civil engineering, a professional engineering discipline, deals with the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment. In this respect, DKLS has carried out civil engineering works related to:

  • Road and drainage
  • Water reservoirs
  • Pedestrain bridges
  • Canals
  • Dams
Related projects included:

HIGH RISE & BUILDING WORKS

From the single and double storey building construction, DKLS has advanced to high-rise building construction, exceeding 21 metres in height.

High-rise structures pose particular design challenges for structural and geotechnical engineers, particularly if the underlying soils have geotechnical risk factors such as high compressibility or in geologically weak zones.

In addition, DKLS project teams face ever increasing pressure to deliver projects as quickly as possible. To meet these demands, contractors are faced with the need to explore various construction strategies in order to meet delivery dates, and to assure themselves as to the achievability and quality of a schedule.

DKLS has received accolades in the construction of high rise and building projects, among the outstanding ones included:

  • Upgrading and Restoration of Parliament Building, Malaysia
  • Projek Perumahan Penjawat Awam 1 Malaysia (PPA1M), Perlis
  • Ipoh Premium City (IPC), Ipoh, Perak
  • Sg. Wangi Residence, Sitiawan, Perak
  • Serdang Avenue, Sitiawan, Perak
  • Manjung Residence, Manjung, Perak
  • Venice of Perak, Sitiawan, Perak
  • Pantai Residence, Pantai Remis, Perak
  • Victoria Cottage Phase 1
  • Victoria Cottage Phase 2
  • Casuarina Hotel, Ipoh, Perak
  • Mahkamah Muar, Johor
  • UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor
  • Federal Government Building Complex, Perak
  • Prison Complex, Arau, Kedah
  • Polytechnik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (Polytechnics Perlis)
  • Hostel Kolej Matrikulasi Perlis
  • University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) in Ulu Puah
  • Komplex Darul Quran, Selangor

MARINE ENGINEERING

Coastal and marine engineering works pose a distinct challenge from land engineering due to the reactive nature of the seawater and the fluidity and hydrology of the seawater regime. The demanding environment of shorelines is subjected to constant tidal and river level fluctuations, thereby placing restrictions on standard working practices.

Construction over water therefore requires a different approach. Specialized and sophisticated piling equipment and large heavy duty equipments are also required. Strict environmental management procedures ensure the risk of pollution to the water is minimised.

DKLS has constructed waterfront marina facilities and offer solutions in areas such as marina infrastructure and marine engineering works. These include jetty facility in environmentally sensitive estuary. Integrated approach includes wave disturbance analysis, environmental impact analysis, sediment transport assessment, physical and numerical hydraulic modeling and waterfront structural analysis.

DKLS has also produced and handled armour rock construction for coastal protection, defenses and nourishment of beach and riverine areas.

Testimonies of project completed are:

  • The Second Access Bridge at the Prai Bulk Cargo Terminal at Seberang Prai
  • Bagan Datoh Coastal Protection against estuary encroachment
  • Westport Bridge in Kelang
  • Reclaiming 1400 metres of the sea for Langkawi International Airport Extension
  • Lumut and Pangkor jetties

INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEERING

DKLS Construction Sdn Bhd, the construction arm of DKLS Industries Berhad, carries out all super infrastructure engineering and construction works. DKLS' pool of professionals and sub-professionals, many of whom are recognized experts, are capable of handling and delivering all types of infrastructure engineering and construction works.

Testimonials of their expertise are reflected in the numerous mega-projects completed by DKLS and the projects include bridges, roads, and similar public works required for an industrial economy, or a portion of it, to function.

Bridges could be on land or across stretches of water. On land, transportation infrastructure include road interchange, bridges, tunnels and retaining walls.

DKLS is continuously striving to seek advanced technological machinery, method and technique to further advance the engineering construction industry. One such innovation is the incremental launching and balanced cantilever bridge construction.

Testimonies of bridges constructed across land and rivers include:

  • Road Building Project, Mat Daling Pakej 1, Jerantut Pahang
  • Road Building and Upgrading Project, Mat Daling Pakej 2, Jerantut Pahang
  • Road Building Project, Lipis Pakej 1, Pahang
  • Road Upgrading Project, Lipis Pakej 2, Pahang
  • Kelantan Bridge
  • Dungun Bridge
  • Bukit Gantang Multilink Flyover
  • Changlun Dual Carriageway, Kuala Perlis
